Down in the Dallas Farmer’s Market there are a couple of plant shops that specialize in bedding plants – annual color. The plants are laid out on the sidewalk in flats and make a beautiful, colorful, carpet.

Well, they have a guy out there with a hose all day. Last summer, I couldn’t keep up and lost every non-tree plant I had.
It’s cold and dismal here. What beautiful pictures to see on a day like this. I can’t wait to be able to get out and plant some annuals like these.
If it makes you feel any better, it won’t be long until it’s unbearably hot here.

what are the red flowers? i need something red to put in front of my green/yellow euonymous shrubs. the red sets them off well. lots of sun too.

Another reader figured it out. They are Geraniums. Good, hardy plants, if memory serves.

I think the red flowers are Pelagoniums, or the common name is Geraniums.

You’re right! Geranium is what I was trying to think of. I had them in pots – they are hard to kill.
Here in the UK, a frost can damage, even kill them, so we don’t plant out until all fear of frost has gone. They are beautiful though.
