I love the beauty of the natural horizon or moonlight, etc contrasting with buildings, powerlines, skyscrapers, etc. I especially love in NYC when there’s a full moon hovering over Time Square.
It’s easy to forget that nature still exists even in the heart of the biggest of cities.
In my earliest photos are some of Reunion Tower being built. The ball wasn’t yet complete. Then I recall seeing the completed tower in the distance in the first Robocop movie.
One interesting movie with a lot of the old Dallas skyline in it is the 1980 version of Lathe of Heaven – with Bruce Davidson. This was unavailable for several decades after one showing on PBS (which I happened to have seen), but is now on Netflix disk.
The film uses Reunion Arena, and Dallas City Hall, as giant science ficiton dream machines.
